Hydration Packs: Yes, You Can Drink and Bike!

Some old-timers have a saying that your childhood is all but happy if you’ve never used a bike. In some cases, this is true because riding a bike is one form of exercise and tests your body balance. However, the universe does work in mysterious ways, and you could try and compensate for a lost childhood by taking up cycling seriously. Then again, remember that all those miles you go will take a toll on your body as you burn calories and sweat, requiring frequent drinks.

Timing is essential when you are drinking up while cycling. For example, if you are biking to and from work and the place is not too far away, consider biking at daybreak and early evening. The cooler temperatures will reduce your risk of dehydration as you won’t sweat excessively. Remember to drink up or hydrate before you even get on the bike.
Balance is often a tricky affair when you’re riding a bike, especially more so when you’re drinking out of a water bottle. To this end, sports gear companies have holders for water bottles that can be placed almost anywhere on the bike; however, this presents problems when reaching out and may affect concentration. This is why a lightweight hydration pack becomes the more convenient option. Even if you’re not feeling thirsty during a bike run, make it a habit to take a few sips every once in a while. Take note that proper hydration is a must to achieve optimum athletic performance.
