Say you are committed
to make some practice runs this summer. The clear weather makes for a
lot of sunshine– but with it, sheer temperatures and sweating
bullets. Even your friends may underline the importance of staying
hydrated during the runs, therefore requiring the use of a hydration
pack, but which one works for you? Here are some factors to consider:
Snug and Tight
Some runners are
comfortable with a hydration pack if it is strapped to them without
much discomfort. It is important that the pack have vertical and side
straps that allow for secure bounding around the shoulder and
sternum. That way, you would not have to bear with the jiggling
common in bags with loose straps, especially when you are moving at a
trot.
A Different Tankage
The type of running
event will warrant the level of hydration you need. If you are going
for a casual run around several blocks in your community, ample
hydration may be possible through a pack with roughly one-liter
capacity and filling it with water or an electrolyte-heavy sports
drink. Longer distances can require larger volumes. Take care to
drink from other sources before the run and preserve the tank fluid
for later in the run.
Accessories
Your hydration pack may
need some storage options for other essential equipment you will need
for the run. Certain packs have two front pockets while other models
have four. Plan the items you must bring lest some of them become
deadweight.
